This paper shows both sides of argument about higher wages can affect the efficiency and proficiency of workers which is an important factor of building qualified works. I research the explanations and the implications from several experts’ projects to understand and analyze the results and the suggestions of them to support my subject of this argument that higher wages can motivate the workers to work harder. There are some researches agreeing that higher wages can really provoke the workers’ performances because people depend on money. They do need money to live. Some of them; on the other hand, disagree. They indicate that it’s not always about the money; sometimes the workers need something different to change their simple lives whether they have enough money, and the results are in this paper already. This paper has various writings of many writers about this argument to support my writing.

There are many reasons for increasing in wage can motivate the workers to work harder. First, people need money for their livings. There are some researches agreeing that higher wages can really provoke the workers’ performances because people depend on money. They do need money to live. Money is important since it is the intermediate of exchange things, and most of people will pay for immediate wants first. Money is as necessary as to be another basic factor of our lives. We pay money for houses, cars, clothes, food, and other necessary things. Also, money can tell the exact price and value of the things compared with others. It has been considered because of exchanging like ‘Brother Trade’ is realized that sometimes you might not be so sure that this thing is worthy enough to exchange to another thing. People depend on them.
Second, the factor which relates to higher wage motivating workers to work harder is Maslow’s Hierarchy Theory. Kendra Cherry (2013) explained that what motivates behavior. According to humanist psychologist Abraham Maslow, our actions are motivated in order achieve certain needs. Maslow first introduced his concept of a hierarchy of needs in his 1943 paper “A Theory of Human Motivation”. This hierarchy suggests that people are motivated to fulfill basic needs before moving on to other, more advanced needs. Lastly, to the top, he emphasized the importance of self-actualization, to achieve individual potential or Self-Actualization Needs.
Finally, whether you agree to the subject of this argument, you have to know to prove or try the best way how to pay the workers the wages. Based on the quantity of work, maybe salary is not the only factor that impacts workers’ productivity. Firstly, the Base ‘ the standard salary or the minimum wage that every worker is paid which it usually means a set wage based on a set of expected duties to be performed such as hourly wages, and it can be increased or decreased, depends on the performances and the boss. Regarding ‘Criticisms of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs’ (Kendra Cherry, 2013) which is most research has not been able to substantiate the idea of a needs hierarchy. Some critics reported that there was little evidence for Maslow’s ranking of these needs and even less evidence that these needs are in a hierarchical order. Other criticisms of Maslow’s theory point that his definition of self-actualization is difficult to test scientifically. His research on self-actualization was also based on a very limited sample of individuals, including people he knew as well as biographies of famous individuals that Maslow believed to be self-actualized, such as Albert Einstein and Eleanor Roosevelt. Also, there are some experts implying that there was no need to follow this pyramid to get to the top; thus, it is not necessary to be like this theory because of various different needs of people.
Lastly, the third argument against this subject is warnings and considerations because not every time that the workers need higher wages. According to Linda Ray and Demand Media (2013), there are some reasons that money is not necessary for making the workers work harder. Firstly, the Warnings which could increase salaries in the hopes of encouraging higher productivity can backfire on you Secondly, the Considerations is to effectively boost workers to increase productivity. This reason actually relates to the first reason against increasing in wage motivate workers to work harder. In many times, in some moment, it’s not just about money anymore, they need something differently, but it’s still hard to find the way out. Hence, it is the boss’ job to make them happy to have the inspiration to continue working.

In conclusion, it is hard to completely agree or disagree about this argument since workers or people do want different things in different circumstances in different environments. As you can see, some wants money, yet some don’t even they don’t have enough money. There is overwhelming evidence that money is an important motivator for most people. Further, there is ample evidence that money has a strong influent to make workers or people work more efficiently and harder. However, in some case, money is not the only motivator and it is not the primary motivator for everyone. But still, money is always the best concerned choice to motivate the workers or other people to do something better, both efficiently and proficiently.

You could say that the main difference between the Aberdeen and Green River plants have mostly to do with which type of motivational reasoning each have. Aberdeen employees are motivated for intrinsic reasons. They continue to work hard for the satisfaction of the entire company doing well, as Green River employees do things for extrinsic reasons. It seems that if you can break jobs down individually and make them simpler to understand & do, then people are more apt to do them effectively.
